Helping Kids with Big Emotions

Do you often find yourself feeling…

  • Overwhelmed by your child’s big emotions and behaviours?

  • Uncertain about how to respond or support them?

  • A sense of guilt, exhaustion, or fear you’re doing it wrong?

Does your child often experience...

  • Big feelings they can’t name, understand, or manage?

  • Emotional outbursts, withdrawal, clinginess, or confusion?

  • Social challenges or struggles at home or school?

If you answered YES to any of these, you are not alone

Big feelings can lead to big behaviours. And big behaviours do not mean you’ve failed.

They simply mean your child hasn’t learned the tools to navigate them... YET!

What parents are saying

"Just wanted to say a huge thank you - even six weeks on, Malachi (age 6) is still talking about what he learned in your workshop! The emotional awareness he gained hasn’t just stuck, it’s woven itself into how he navigates the world - and that’s no small feat.

It really speaks to the power of your content, your approach, and most of all, the magic you bring to the sessions. Malachi absolutely adores you - you’ve made a lasting impact

And as a therapist, I see every day what can happen when kids don’t get this kind of emotional education early on.  What you’re offering is more than valuable - it’s foundational."

Building Emotional Resilience

Imagine if your family could experience...

  • A more connected and stable home

  • Feeling confident and equipped, not reactive or helpless

  • A child who can express emotions clearly and cope with challenge

Imagine if your child could…

✅ Understand what they’re feeling... and why
✅ Express themselves effectively & use coping tools to regulate
✅ Communicate clearly when they need support
✅ Feel confidence in tricky social situations
✅ Build problem-solving and critical thinking skills
✅ Feel safe in their own body and emotions

And imagine if you could…

💡 Stay regulated, clear, and confident, even when things get tough
💬 Respond (not react) with helpful tools and language
🤝 Finally feel like you and your child are on the same team

This is the power of emotional resilience.
And this is exactly what we build inside Anchor!

What kids are saying

"I enjoy these workshops because I enjoy meeting other people ... learning different topics ... and it's really fun because you learn different topics each week.

There's also kahoots where it's fun. It's a bit competitive and it's friendly and 'coz you also get to learn about problem solving and critical thinking and you'll be more self-aware and aware of other people."

Supporting Healthy Family Dynamics

The world our children are growing up in is so different from the one we knew. Most of us weren’t taught these emotional skills, yet we now understand just how essential they are.
Anchor gives children the emotional literacy, regulation strategies, confidence, and problem-solving skills they need to navigate life’s ups and downs, and gives parents the tools to support them along the way.
Together, we build a strong foundation for connection, resilience, and success that lasts a lifetime.

Anchor is designed for...
✔ Families who value emotional literacy, connection, and growth
✔ Parents who want to feel more confident navigating tough moments
✔ Neurodivergent-affirming, trauma-aware, and rooted in respect

Anchor Curriculum

WEEK 1 : ALL ABOARD (Meet Your Feelings)

We start the journey by learning what emotions are, why they matter, and how they show up in our bodies and minds. Just like sailors need to read their maps, we need to recognise our feelings so that we can navigate them.

WEEK 2: WEATHERING THE STORMS (Handling BIG feelings)

Life brings unexpected waves. We learn to notice when emotions are building, understand what’s happening, and choose how to respond instead of react, so that we don’t get tossed around by the storm.

WEEK 3: PACKING YOUR SURVIVAL KITS (Coping Skills)

Every good sailor packs the right gear. We fill our toolkit with healthy coping strategies and practical tools to help us manage emotional turbulence with confidence.

WEEK 4: HELPING HANDS (Connection & Communication)

We’re not out at sea alone. We learn how to work with others, using empathy, active listening, and non-verbal cues, to build trust and ask for support when we need it.

WEEK 5: BRAVE HEARTS ON BOARD (Self-Belief & Courage)

Some challenges we face alone, and that takes courage. Here, we explore self-belief, resilience, and the idea that mistakes are part of learning. We focus on knowing our strengths and where we may need a helping hand.

WEEK 6: TREASURE MAPS & SMART PLANS (Problem-Solving & Critical Thinking)

When we hit obstacles, we need a compass to guide us. We practise creative problem-solving, critical thinking, and making thoughtful choices, even when the route isn’t clear.

WEEK 7: SUNNY SKIES & SMOOTH SAILING (Gratitude & Growth Mindset)

Even when the sea is rough, there’s always something to be grateful for. We learn to focus on what’s going well, keep a positive outlook, and believe that challenges help us grow.

WEEK 8: BACK TO SHORE: Look How Far We’ve Come! (Reflection & Celebration)

We return to shore, reflecting on our journey and celebrating the new skills we’ve gained. Skills that will help us for every voyage ahead.

GET TO KNOW YOUR GUIDE

Hi, I’m Lara, conscious children's coach, mentor, and former teacher. I support children (and their parents) handle big feelings in a world that isn’t getting any easier.

I think we can all agree that the world feels like a bit of a dumpster fire some days (lately a lot more days than not!) and yet you still have to parent through it. You’re juggling your own stress, your child’s meltdowns, school pressures, devices, sibling rivalry, and the endless list of “what might be causing this”... from too much screen time to not enough nature, from bullying to perfectionism, from a busy household to parents who are themselves running on empty.

Yes, those triggers are real, but the reality is - we will always encounter triggers. The solution isn’t to bubble-wrap kids from every hard thing, it’s to equip them (and yourself) with the tools to navigate the big feelings that come with life. That’s exactly where Anchor comes in.

Over the years, I’ve worked with families from South Africa, Scotland, and Sri Lanka, to Qatar, the UK, the USA, and beyond, helping hundreds of children build emotional regulation, resilience, and confidence.

My sessions are curated to be engaging, playful, and practical, intended to meet kids where they are while giving parents the strategies and language to respond consciously, rather than react.

.

While the world might keep throwing curveballs, you and your child can learn how to stay grounded, connected, and ready for whatever comes next.

I'm so excited for you to join me on this journey!

How to Explain this Program to your Child

Introducing these workshops to your child can simple and exciting! Here’s a helpful way to explain it:

“You’re going to join an online workshop in a small group with other kids your age. There’ll be games and activities all about getting to know yourself better, learning how to handle your feelings, and building seriously cool skills to use in real-life when life and your feelings get tricky. Lara, the awesome captain of the program, is a safe adult and will make sure you feel safe and have fun."

If your child is feeling nervous to join you can also reassure them that all the children are new to the group and Lara will make sure they feel super comfortable and they won't be pressured into speaking or sharing if they don't want to. If they want to just listen, that's okay too.

Participation:

I do, of course, gently encourage the children to participate, and I give them choices of using the chat box, using thumbs up/down, or speaking if they're comfortable. Majority of the time, children start to actively participate on their own as they start to engage with the content and realise it's casual, fun and relevant to their real-life experiences
