ANCHOR KIDS

An interactive, small-group online program for tweens (9-11) & early teens (12-14) to build self-awareness, emotional regulation, resilience, and real-life social skills in a safe, neurodivergent-affirming, playful, and practical way.

8-week workshop series | Weekly 1-hour sessions | Small groups

If your child is joining Anchor Kids, Anchor Adults is an opportunity to deepen your own work alongside them.

What is Anchor Kids?

Anchor Kids is a small-group, guided online program where children actively build emotional regulation, confidence, and social skills in a way that feels safe, engaging, and fun.

If your child is navigating big emotions, friendship challenges, or growing independence, this is the space for them.

Inside this workshop series, your child will learn how to:

• Understand how emotions show up in their body
• Recognise and name what they’re feeling
• Calm themselves when things feel overwhelming
• Communicate their needs more clearly
• Navigate tricky social situations with confidence

Over 8 weeks, you may begin to notice your child:

    • Feeling more at ease with big emotions
• Pausing and responding instead of reacting
• Expressing themselves more openly and confidently
• Handling social situations with greater ease
• Building stronger, more secure friendships

And for you as a parent, this means fewer power struggles, more connection, and a deeper sense of ease at home.

Parenting Is Beautiful… and Sometimes Completely Overwhelming.

If you’re here, you care deeply about your child’s wellbeing.

And you might also be noticing moments where things feel harder than they should.

Big emotions.

Meltdowns.

Shutdowns.

Sibling conflict.

Social struggles.

Or simply feeling unsure about how to help.

The world our children are growing up in is very different from the one many of us knew.

They’re navigating faster lives, bigger pressures, and more emotional stimulation than ever before.

And the truth is most of us were never taught the emotional skills we’re now trying to teach our children.

Which means many parents are doing the best they can with tools they were never given.

Some Good News (Yes, Really)

Children’s brains are incredibly adaptable.

Through awareness, practice, and supportive environments, kids can build the emotional skills that help them navigate life with more confidence and stability.

This is the magic of neuroplasticity - the brain’s ability to grow and change through experience.

Inside Anchor Kids, children learn how their nervous system works and practice tools that help them move through big emotions without becoming overwhelmed.

We do this by learning how to understand and work with them, not by suppressing feelings.

Emotional resilience isn’t about never struggling, it’s about learning how to find your way back to steadiness.

Hello, I'm Lara

Educator, facilitator, and conscious children’s mentor with over a decade of experience working with families and a lifetime of doing my own damn work every single day.

As a highly sensitive, neurodivergent person, I know firsthand what it’s like to feel total nervous system overwhelm and to desperately want answers and tools that actually work.

What I’ve learned is that nervous system support works best when it is simple instead of complex, creative rather than rigid, and playful instead of perfection-seeking - especially when life feels messy. I focus on holistic support, compassionate connection and don’t do overcomplexity, blame or shame - because life already has enough of those as it is.

I’m wildly passionate about this work because it’s ultimately harm prevention, for kids and adults alike. When we build a steadier nervous system, we interrupt harmful emotional patterns in our bodies, relationships, families, communities, and environments.

In Anchor, I’ll help you access tools that actually work to support nervous system regulation, help you engage with life more fully, and create a ripple effect of stability and joy around you.

How Anchor Works

7. theory icon.png

1. Learn the Basics

Kids learn how emotions and the nervous system work in simple, age-appropriate ways that make sense to them.

No complicated science, just concepts they can actually understand.

2. Practice the Skills

Through games, activities, and guided exercises, kids practice noticing their feelings and trying tools in real time.

Learning becomes interactive and experiential, not just something they hear about.

3. Build Real-Life Tools

Children leave each session with simple strategies they can use at home, school, and with friends.

These tools help them feel more confident navigating challenges as they grow.

When Kids Feel Overwhelmed

Children experience nervous system overwhelm too.

This can look like:

emotional meltdowns or shutdowns
frustration that turns into anger
difficulty expressing what they need
withdrawing or avoiding situations
conflict with siblings or friends

These behaviours are often misunderstood as “bad behaviour.”

But most of the time they are actually a nervous system asking for support.

When children learn what’s happening inside their body, something powerful happens:

They stop feeling like something is wrong with them and they start developing the skills to navigate those moments more confidently.

That’s exactly what we practice inside Anchor Kids.

The ‘Anchor’ Definition of Success

Success here isn’t about raising perfectly behaved children who never feel upset.

It’s about helping kids develop the skills and confidence to navigate their emotions in healthier ways.

Inside Anchor Kids, success looks like:

  • A child who understands what they’re feeling.

  • A child who can express emotions more clearly.

  • A child who has tools to regulate when things get tough.

  • A child who feels safer in their own body and emotions.

  • And parents who feel more confident supporting them along the way.

When children learn emotional resilience, the impact reaches far beyond childhood.

It shapes how they show up in relationships, school,

their community, and life.

TESTIMONIALS

Wills now calls Lara her feelings teacher.  If only all teachers were feelings teachers.  She made the learning feel natural and playful, not forced.

And quietly, as an adult, I learnt a lot too - especially around how we talk about feelings, and helping our kids find better words for what they’re really experiencing. It really was something special 💛"

The power of your content, your approach, and most of all, the magic you bring to the sessions.

And as a therapist, I see every day what can happen when kids don’t get this kind of emotional education early on.  What you’re offering is more than valuable - it’s foundational."
